Wine glass holders: the advantages of wooden and metal wine racks

Most wine glass holders that call themselves ‘hanging bottles’ tend to mean that the glassware is what is hanging, not the rack itself. So when they talk about ‘hanging wine bottles’, they’re not just referring to huge racks that are designed to be mounted over a kitchen island area.

At the lower end of the range are small metal racks that can be screwed to the top of a cabinet that cost as little as $5. They are usually chrome plated metal with mounting holes, such as what is called the ’16 Inch Chrome Hanging Wine Glass Storage Rack’. You can’t get much cheaper than that if you’re looking for a hanging rack.

If you are more aesthetic, you can choose the hanging wine and stemware rack from Woodform products. It only weighs 9 kilos, it is made of wood. Hang from the ceiling with four 18-inch long chains, not included. Holds eight or more wine bottles and sixteen glasses and measures 3.25″ high by 32.5″ wide by 12″ deep. It is made of natural birch wood with a clear lacquer finish.

The “Creative Creations” 6-Bottle/16-Glass Hanging Wire Wine Carrier has a list price of $130. This wine rack holds six bottles and up to sixteen wine glasses. The construction is wrought iron with a hand-painted surface that can be wiped clean with a clean, soft cloth. Its dimensions are 8″ x 19″ x 38″.

In my opinion, wooden racks look better than wire racks, but wire racks are compact and hold a large number of glasses. Wood always has a better feel and is more aesthetically pleasing than other materials. There are very few wine glass holders that are made with cheap plastic construction.
