Feng Shui and Ba Zi – The Game Changers in Life

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is the practice of harnessing energy (Qi) from the environment and aligning it with the body and mind. The alignment is based on the orientation and seating of your house, depending on the school of Feng Shui you are taught.

Your house can be oriented in the direction that is auspicious or inauspicious. If the house faces a natural water catchment area, such as a man-made lake or pond, it is auspicious as long as the water is clean and uncontaminated. If you can find a house that has such a positive landscape, it is bound to invigorate Qi that empowers you to live in harmony with nature. Such a house brings prosperity to the occupants.

In the study of Feng Shui, the occupants of a property can take appropriate steps to benefit from the good or bad features that surround a dwelling. If you find a negative structure that puts your property in front of bad energy, you must learn the techniques of Feng Shui to avoid its negative effects or at least mitigate the dire consequences for the occupants. Bad energy can cause poor health and misfortune in terms of relationship, career, business, and wealth.

The mind and body are affected when a house faces an unfavorable direction, such as a rocky mountain, stream, busy road, or the sharp edge of the neighboring house’s roof. The correct techniques to implement depend on each negative feature the home is exposed to. For example, if the house faces a rocky mountain, the occupants of the property should consider moving, which is the best recourse. You can still take steps to avoid facing the rocky mountain by realigning the home’s facade, but it will involve a massive renovation.

What is Ba Zi?

Ba Zi is the practice of analyzing the flow of energy in your birth chart according to your elements. Each of us has 5 elements that control our natal chart which is derived from our date of birth. By having information of a person’s date and time of birth, a master of this ancient art can decipher the interaction between the 5 elements to unlock a person’s luck.

The 5 elements that make up a natal chart are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Each of these elements has a polarity known as Yin and Yang. How these elemental energies determine the course of a person’s destiny depends on many factors. Essentially, the factors that come into play are the strength and utility of the items.

There are also the typical 12 animal signs that are the mainstay of Chinese astrology. Each animal sign carries with it different types of elements. The animal signs are aligned in a natal chart according to the pillars that are divided according to the stems and branches.

Therefore, the natal chart that is formed according to the Ba Zi system is also known as the Four Pillars of Fate. The pillars include the year, month, day and hour pillar. Together, these pillars trace the length of a person’s life from birth to death.
