What to consider in a kitchen remodel

Remodeling a kitchen isn’t just for people who plan to move, it’s also for those who plan to stay. Rather than update the flooring, appliances, cabinets, and fixtures for someone else, homeowners may want to enjoy them before selling the home. A variety of changes can be made at reasonable cost to increase energy efficiency and reduce the amount of time it takes to prepare meals and clean up afterward.

To sink
Different types and sizes of sinks are available, depending on the preferences of the cook. A double sink allows you to wash clothes on one side and leave the opposite side free for other uses. For example, washing lettuce and other vegetables can be done on the left side of the sink, while fresh clams are soaked in water on the right side. Various sink materials can be used, such as stainless steel, natural stone or ceramic. They can come in any shape, mount, or size. Sink features may include a hose attachment and built-in sink. Faucets may have an additional water filter or different spray settings.

Countertops and Cabinets
Countertops and sinks can be mixed to match for a sleek and efficient look. The surfaces are easy to clean and maintain with enhanced durability. Popular surface materials include marble, quartz, granite, Formica, and laminated wood. Consider mounting small appliances on the wall instead of resting on valuable counter space. Cabinets can be refaced or replaced with more efficient shelving and more durable materials that will blend in with the rest of your new kitchen décor.

Gone are the days of waiting 10 minutes for the stove to heat up. Instant heat stoves are now the norm. The regulation of the amount of burner to be used is now carried out by means of touch panels. Convection, conventional, and microwave ovens are all options in the modern kitchen. Choosing the number of ovens and which types to use should be a fun task for the home cook. A new refrigerator and/or freezer is much more energy efficient than older models. Dishwashers are too.

Floors
The floor is used to set a tone for the atmosphere of the kitchen. Materials can include cork flooring, hardwood and laminate flooring, and ceramic tile. Depending on the amount of traffic a kitchen experiences, the surface must be durable enough to encounter children, pets, high-heeled shoes, and many family activities without compromising the overall look of the room.
