Treat ADHD without using drugs

Alternative methods of treating ADHD without using medication have been on the rise. Many people are finding that other methods, such as natural remedies, work. There were many misdiagnosed cases brought to light in the media by medical experts in the ADHD field exposing hasty decisions made by family doctors.

Many people discovered that an allergy was causing the symptoms. Many also found that changing the diet and adding supplements worked. There is more than one way to help someone with ADHD, as well as many alternatives that may work. I have listed the common methods to treat ADHD without using drugs; hard drugs that can aggravate other health problems.

1. Behavior and diet have a connection. If you’re eating refined carbs and processed foods, most of the time you’re going to suffer, even if you don’t have ADHD. You must give your body what it wants and deserves. Quality protein such as fish, eggs, nuts along with vegetables and fruits.

2. Many people don’t want to exercise, but exercise is beneficial in many ways. I know you’ve heard it over and over again, but if you try it for a week at your own pace and style. Almost anyone can take a 30-minute walk, climb the stairs, or exercise with a DVD in the comfort of their own home and on their own schedule. Many people start exercising too hard and then lose interest. The key is to start with what works best for you. Exercise is good for your muscles, your brain, and your mood. It reduces the risk of health related diseases and helps those who already have a disease such as diabetes. In fact, there is nothing negative in the exercise.

3. Cut out the white sugar and try using a natural substitute like Stevia for a few days to see if you notice any difference. It is even better to use unrefined sugar or coconut palm sugar instead of a chemical sweetener. When you use an artificial sweetener, your poor body asks, “What is this?” It creates havoc on your entire system.

4. Eliminate artificial dyes that have been shown to cause negative symptoms in people sensitive to them. Gluten is included in this category. There have been many success stories by simply eliminating the two main allergens; wheat and milk.

5. A good multivitamin with extra supplements of zinc, B6 and magnesium. Many people with ADHD have low levels of these and Omega-3.

6. Using natural herbal remedies including hyoscyamus, this helps with excitability and restlessness. Arsen iod can be beneficial for emotional outbursts and verta alb calms the nerves. Other calming herbal remedies include chamomile, kava kava, valerian, gingko biloba, and passion flower. The good news is that you don’t have to go out and find these herbs separately. There are custom formulas with the right balance of herbs made just to treat ADHD without using drugs.

Once you start on a healthy path of correcting ailments, whether it’s ADHD or just about anything else, you’ll never look back. It is very empowering to live a healthy lifestyle now and in the future.
