Tips to ensure effective social media optimization (SMO)

Recently, at a meeting of social media experts, I was asked how to effectively optimize a website for social media platforms. It has always been an interesting topic for me, as I have been a social media consultant myself for 5 years. So, I shared my thoughts with the other experts on what I felt was important for effective social media marketing.

Today I just wanted to share some tips with you, which you can use for effective social media marketing to ensure more organic traffic and a stable audience on your website. Let’s see what the rules are for an effective social media marketing strategy…

– Connect your website with your Facebook page

If you’re a webmaster, you’ve probably already done this. But in case you haven’t, it’s about time you did. Connecting your website to your social media page will help you to promote your website substantially effectively on the social platform and generate traffic and readers for your blog/website. It has become an integral part of online marketing and is used every day by every major or future website as part of their SMM strategy to make their internet presence felt.

– Update your Twitter account periodically

Regularly updating your website’s Twitter account ensures more Twitter followers, which also double as website visitors and will let you know about the latest happenings in your company. Twitter is a great way to generate traffic and take advantage of the SMO frenzy. So make sure the Twitter account associated with your website is alive and kicking.

– Make use of social bookmarks

Social bookmarking is a great way to let people know about your website and allows your website visitors to promote your website on sites like Digg, Reddit, and the like. It’s an amazing SMM technique, and anyone new to this SMO craze should use this technique, if they’re not already.

Getting people to flock to your website takes more than just search engine optimization these days.

And SMO is a sure way to generate organic traffic, made up of people who are really interested in your services. Just remember: Websites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace are your friends, and you should start using them for more than just finding old friends.
