Sailing ideas for bachelor parties

Boats on inland waterways seat up to twelve people and can be sailed on canals and rivers in England, Scotland and Wales, making them ideal for celebrating a special occasion. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed reunion with old friends, a special family anniversary, or a college reunion, sailing offers a unique way to bring a party together and experience something new.

Boat trips to the city

Bathroom: Discover the World Heritage-listed city of Bath on the Kennet and Avon canal, with its Roman baths and pump room and the Georgian architecture of the Royal Crescent. As well as its many museums, galleries and gardens to explore.

oxfords: Accessible via the South Oxford Canal and the River Thames. ‘The city of dreaming towers’ as the poet, Matthew Arnold wrote. With Oxford University and many historical halls such as Blenheim Palace and Carfax Tower to visit. There are many shopping opportunities and markets, such as the covered market, a variety of dining experiences, and opportunities to take the river on a romantic boat trip.

Birmingham: A city with many group attractions to offer, home to Cadburys World, national paintball fields and a SEA LIFE centre. The city also offers canal boats the opportunity to moor at the Gas Street Basin, just off Broad Street, which offers a variety of bars and clubs. and Cinemundo. Cadburys World is just off the Worcester and Birmingham canal, just past Kings Norton Junction, 5 miles south of the Gas Street Basin.

Chester: The medieval city of Chester along the Shropshire Union Canal with its King Charles Tower and split-level shopping streets is ideal for a weekend getaway. Other nearby highlights include Beeston Castle and Ellesmere Harbour, home to the ship museum.

Glasgow and Edinburgh: From Falkirk, cruise the Union Canal to Edinburgh, with highlights including the Falkirk Tunnel and Linlithgow Palace, plus ride the Falkirk Wheel. Alternatively, sail along the Forth and Clyde Canal to Glasgow and visit Campsie Fells and the former boat building village of Bowling.

Stratford-on-Avon: The birthplace of William Shakespeare, set in the vast Warwickshire countryside. The town offers a chance to get a taste of old England, with thatched cottages, beautiful old buildings on the waterways. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop at Europe’s largest butterfly farm, just across the water from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Warwick: Home to dozens of country pubs, gardens and golf courses and, of course, Warwick Castle – a medieval day. Spend the day immersed in 1,100 years of history with interactive experiences, dramatizations, and shows. The Grand Union Canal meanders through Royal Lemington Spa, before traversing the north side of downtown Warwick.

Boat hire in Norfolk Broads

The Norfolk Broads offer Britain’s largest protected wetland, ideal for nature lovers with rivers, broads, marshes and bogs supporting rare habitats for plants and animals alike.

Both Norwich and Great Yarmouth are accessible by boat and are excellent for group activities, stopping at Great Yarmouth’s beaches or traveling into Norwich city centre. Also not to be missed is a trip to Wroxham, a city crowned as the ‘Capital of the Broads’. There are plenty of waterside pubs and restaurants along the 125-mile lock-free cruise, as well as attractions to keep the kids entertained.

There are many inland waterways available for large groups to meet by boat and float to a town of interest, or hire your own boat through the Great British Countryside, with the ability to self cater or stop at one of the many canalside pubs .
