Is our government to blame for high gasoline prices?

Front and center in all the media is the rising cost of oil and gas. It affects the lifestyles of all Americans and the costs of all the goods and services we use. Many of us shake our fists and look for someone to blame. Before we start pointing fingers elsewhere, maybe we should point fingers at ourselves.

To the credit of our governments, they realized the problem and have done something about it. They passed federal tax breaks that pay each and every American to make their homes and businesses more energy efficient. Our government passes laws that benefit us financially when they want or need us to take action. Have you made your home more energy efficient and done your part to reduce our dependence on foreign countries?

I bet that the percentage of Americans who have made their property more energy efficient and have taken advantage of this tax break is very small. If the majority of Americans would take this simple and inexpensive step (almost paid for in full by our government), we could dramatically reduce our oil consumption.

There are new, inexpensive and revolutionary products now available to the public that can drastically reduce gas prices and electric bills. Almost all new houses being built now have these energy saving products. Doing its part, our government continues to raise energy efficiency requirements for appliances and other items through building codes.

One of the best ways to reduce your electric bill by 20% or more is to install a radiant barrier in your attic. Reflects 95% of heat before it enters your home. You can reduce the temperature in your home by almost 20 degrees. The median cost of a 1200 square foot home would be less than $1,000.00. The government tax exemption allows a tax credit of $500.00. You could see a $400.00 monthly electric bill drop to around $300.00. It could pay for itself within a year, with the government footing most of the bill. If every American took advantage of this, it would reduce our consumption and dependence on other nations by millions of barrels of oil. In turn, it would also save energy in the fists and in the price of gasoline.

In the United States, nearly 400 seniors die each year from heat trauma. If every elderly person had a radiant barrier installed in her home and reduced the temperature inside by nearly 20 degrees, I wonder how many lives he would save. I recommend that you use the radiant barrier provided by Hy-Tech Thermal Solutions. The only incentive I receive from endorsing this product is the satisfaction of knowing that I have provided you with a safe product that works.

There is a new product called Enviro-Max Plus that is a fuel additive that really works. When added to your tank of gas, it will increase your gas mileage by 30%. They claim that for every dollar you spend on their product you will save three dollars on gas. A friend used the additive on his way to Florida and used two and a half tanks of fuel. On his way home he didn’t use it and he needed 4 tanks of diesel to get back home. He almost cut his diesel fuel consumption in half. A simple web search will tell you where to buy it and how to be a reseller to earn extra money while helping our nation. I have noticed other copycat companies offering similar products and I would be careful.

We now have a paint additive available that will reflect 95% of the heat away from your home. It’s the same technology used in the space shuttle and the jet engines on our planes. This ceramic technology has been around since the 1950s, but only recently became available to the public thanks to testing by NASA and Hy-Tech Thermal Solutions. It is the cheapest non-traditional insulation you can buy for your home with an average extra cost of only $120.00.

By visiting the Department of Energy online, you can learn many inexpensive ways to save energy in your home and reduce your electric bill by 25%. They also provide the 1991 Radiant Barrier test results. They should update these test results because radiant barrier products have improved.

Other ways we can all do our part to protect our nation and the environment is by recycling everything, installing a backup solar power supply, buying or investing only in companies that are environmentally friendly, and investing in innovative alternative energy, just installing white reflective tiles on our roofs, purchasing Energy Star products and appliances, or giving away unwanted items instead of throwing them away.

We can also blame our media for our lack of knowledge of this new technology. Americans are suspicious of new non-traditional products and it takes time for us to accept them. Various vendors could tell us about them but we won’t adopt them until we are informed by the media. The media should be more problem-solving oriented. They will print information about the new tax laws, but will not offer information about the new products it covers. When they talk about the high price of gasoline they should offer us ways to combat this problem with these new products. The media seems more interested in propaganda and the latest gimmick than their responsibility to inform and guide our nation in the right direction.

We live in the greatest nation on earth. It is a free country in which we had the luxury of being born. That’s why we have the right to sit idle, shake our fists, and blame our government or corporations all we want. I hold that the state of our nation and the world requires action by each and every American to do our part to conserve our natural resources. If we don’t, it could very well lead to our demise. America can be defeated by her own citizens, such as the Romans.
