If you dress like Elvis on Halloween, would you be a ghost?

This would be considered the ultimate Rock n Roll Halloween costume, you would be a ghost and your favorite rock star.

It’s Halloween again and you’re feeling a bit rebellious, in the 1950s sense of the term. You decide you want to rock Halloween but can’t decide which way to go. Should I try the early ’60s Beatles look with a suit, tie, and bowl cut? Or how about the ’80s Glam Rock God look with leopard print leather pants, skinny T-shirts, and tons of makeup on hand?

When it comes to wearing a rock n roll theme for Halloween, naturally the easiest look to pull off is that of the King of Rock N Roll himself – Elvis Presley. Due to its immense popularity, its appearance has been imitated and emulated for decades and can be achieved with ease. You can also take two routes to achieve this look: the first option is to simply purchase pre-made Elvis Rock n Roll costumes and the second, more adventurous option is creating your own custom Elvis Presley costume. If you want to take the quick and painless route of buying a pre-made costume, this can be accomplished as easily as heading to any Halloween costume store online. If a Halloween store is worth its weight in candy corn, it should have at least a handful of pre-made Elvis costumes ready to order. If you want to take the “scenic” and adventurous route of making an Elvis costume yourself, here are some easy-to-follow steps and tips to get you on your way to Rock N Roll Royalty.

The first thing to do is find yourself a pair of white polyester pants. You can very likely find these at your local thrift store, as it’s not very often that you see someone in white polyester pants these days. After that, you need to find a matching white dress shirt to make it look like you are wearing a white polyester suit. Once you have the basics, it’s time to find the most eye-catching belt known to man. You can probably also get this from a local thrift or vintage store or you can make your own with a band. Elvis’s style isn’t complete without a cape, so he’s next on the list. I don’t know about you, but there aren’t many cape shops in my neighborhood so your best bet may be to use some old white curtains tied around the neck with string.

So you have all the outfit taken care of and now this is where the really fun part begins. Go to a craft store and buy glitter, sequins, and rhinestones to accent your outfit. If you have a cool glue gun, but if not, a little super glue will work too. Decorate the seams of the pants, the chest and sleeves of the shirt and the back of the cape to your liking. Once it’s all shiny and shiny, you just need a few more things to complete this Rock n Roll costume. Find a large pair of sunglasses, grow some lamb chops or make your own, and get some hair gel to create that famous Elvis hairstyle. Once you’ve done all of this, you’ll be ready to go out for a night on the town in your sparkly cape and polyester pants!
