Help get rid of acne by stimulating blood flow

To help get rid of acne, blackheads, and cysts, a good blood supply to the skin is required. This has been known for a long time, and in fact hot and cold contrast baths have been used as therapy for thousands of years. So by alternating cold and lukewarm baths, during a period of therapy, it is believed that this will increase circulation to the skin on the face, back, and chest. Thus, it helps clear and heal acne blemishes, blackheads, and prevents acne scars, the most feared of acne clinical outcomes. Stimulating blood flow will help treat acne, acne scars, and will be useful to add to your existing acne treatments.

Acne, blackheads, cysts, and boils will damage tissue and cause blood vessels to break or become damaged. The extent of bleeding will depend on the tissues involved. Blood will flow until the vessels are constricted (closed), thus preventing more blood from leaking into the tissues. It is crucial to stop bleeding in the tissues, as the blood can act to increase inflammation and therefore must be ‘washed’ out of the tissues before the healing process can begin properly.

Just to explain: Tissues that are deprived of blood nutrition due to injury will soon die. These dying tissues stimulate the release of a chemical, called histamine, which causes blood vessels to open, increasing blood and associated nutrients to help repair damaged tissues. During this phase of increased but slower and more viscous blood supply, the walls of the blood vessels become much more permeable and require heat to promote blood flow.

This is where our hot and cold water therapy can help us.

What you need are two bowls of water, one hot and one cold, and a few towels.

The use of hot and cold baths is as follows:

  • Dip a towel in the hot water and apply it to the skin for a few minutes.
  • then dry
  • Dip another towel in the cold water and apply to the skin for a few minutes.
  • then dry

Repeat this process for about five to ten minutes until you see the skin change color and shine. The whole process can be repeated several times a day. Your skin will feel fresh and invigorated. To really complete the process, apply a honey face mask. Your skin will feel silky smooth and the healing process will be boosted.

Use hot and cold therapy sensibly and if the skin is sore or broken, wait for the skin to heal before starting this therapy.

The physiological effects of hot and cold water contrast baths for the treatment of acne skin have been used for years, but their physiological rationale for improving tissue recovery in acne is less well understood. Most of the experimental evidence suggests that the application of hot and cold water helps to reduce injuries in the acute stages, by opening and closing blood vessels, thus stimulating blood flow and thus reducing swelling. This blood-bypassing action caused by the opening and closing of blood vessels may be one of the mechanisms to remove waste products from the skin, repair skin tissues, and delay/prevent acne scarring. So here is a very useful skin healing treatment, give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
