Great games for your next bag party

Purse parties are always a little more fun when it comes to some short and simple games.

Here are some great icebreaker game ideas that are sure to get everyone chilling and mingling.

These are great because the theme of each one is… yes, you guessed it: PURSES!

Purse Scavenger Hunt-

This game is extremely simple and fun. Before the party, sit down and write a list of things that are normally found in handbags. For example, lipstick, a penny, clip, mirror, etc. Write around 15 to 30 articles depending on the size of your group. (remember, not too many or the game will be too long)

Simply call out each item and whoever has all or the MOST of these items in their bag wins a prize. If you have a lot of people at your party, plan to have prizes for the top 2-3. You can have them hold up each item as they find it, or for added excitement, have them bring the item to you. The first there gets the point.

This may sound silly… but trust me, it’s hilarious and your guests will love it.

Purse Scavenger Hunt-

This one takes a bit of time to prepare, but it’s quite fun. Cut out about 20 wallets from colored cardstock. On the back of 3 of them, write a big ‘X’. Hide them around the house. When the guests arrive, ask them to look for these bags. The 3 guests who find the purses marked with an X win a prize. This gets everyone up and on their feet in the first few minutes and everyone seems to have a good time searching as fast as they can.

You can also make this game with small purses that you can buy very cheaply at a thrift store. You can hide less of them, 5-8, but in each one put a small makeup or lotion as a prize.

Remember that bag-

I recommend having a purse as a raffle giveaway to be displayed as the centerpiece of your purse party display. As guests arrive, make sure they realize this bag will be given out as a prize and have them look at it and examine it. After everyone has arrived and has had a chance to look at the bag, remove it from sight.

Now, ask a series of questions about this bag. For example: What is the name of the brand? What color is it? What color is the interior? What material is it made of? What is the name of the brand? What color is the hardware? How many pockets inside? out? Does it have adjustable shoulder straps?

The winner or winners receive a prize. I usually don’t like the jackpot being the prize simply because sometimes you have more than one winner. I recommend saving the purse for the raffle at the end.

Purse draw-

Hosting a raffle is always a great idea for bag parties! It will immediately draw your guests to your display table to see the raffle giveaway. Upon arrival, each guest receives a raffle ticket. At the end of the night, give away the display bag as a raffle prize. Be sure to create a buzz about this giveaway early in the evening. It keeps everyone excited until the end.

These games can work for any type of party. Because they’re fun and a little silly, everyone will start out in a good mood having fun…which of course is your goal!
