Fun things to do without gambling in Las Vegas

Las Vegas shows, entertainment and family fun

Las Vegas, or as it is known, “Sin City”, is well known as the city of casinos and is the main attraction of the city. However, more and more tourists see Las Vegas as more than just a gambling city, and non-gaming revenues for Las Vegas and other casino cities are growing. Casinos invest much of their resources in hospitality: hotel services, exciting shows, animal exhibits, extravagant dining, swimming pools, amusement parks and more, and many of these things are becoming major attractions. There are plenty of things to do in Las Vegas that don’t involve dropping quarters into slot machines, rolling dice, or doubling down.

The best shows in Las Vegas

First of all, casinos are as famous for their world-class entertainment and shows as they are for their gambling. From the standard feathered and fringed showgirls dancing to magic shows, acrobatics and adult shows, Las Vegas has a wide variety. These are some of the best Las Vegas shows to see. For jaw-dropping stunts, see Cirque Du Soleil at the MGM Grandor, the “O” Cirque du Soleil show at the Bellagio. For music, see Celine Dion at Caesar’s Palace or Barry Manilow at the Las Vegas Hilton. There’s “Bite” at the Stratosphere for adult entertainment, Penn & Teller at Rio Las Vegas for fun, and Lance Burton Master Magician at Monte Carlo Las Vegas for kids’ magic shows. From adults to children and from men to women, there is a show for everyone in Las Vegas.

Food/Buffets

Las Vegas casinos attract some of the best chefs in the culinary world and the city offers a wide variety of dining options. For tourists who do not live in big cities, Las Vegas offers the opportunity to try delicious dishes and exotic cuisines at reasonable prices. And of course, who could forget the famous Las Vegas buffets? Just be careful not to eat too much.

Many families with children go on vacation to Las Vegas and the city has a lot to offer for children to enjoy. First, there are the hotel pools and poolside food and beverage service. Children can play for hours in the pool and adults can sit poolside chatting, drinking and eating. For fun for adults and kids, check out roller coasters at New York – New York, Stratosphere Tower and Casino, and Adventuredome, a 5.5-acre indoor amusement park at Circus Circus Casino. The casinos also have extensive arcades and game rooms for additional entertainment. There are also animal shows, zoos, and aquariums on and off the Strip, like the Lion Habit at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino or the Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Shopping

From casino shops and small arcades to mini malls, there is tons of shopping to do, even if it’s just window shopping. Consider the Forum Shops or Appain Way Shops at Caesar’s Palace, Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, and Via Bellagio at Bellagio for shopping near the casino. For designer clothes, visit the Las Vegas Fashion Outlets, for the mall atmosphere, visit Boulevard Mall, which is just minutes from the Strip, and finally, for specialty stores and tempting restaurants, go to Desert Passage.

Outdoor fun (golf courses)

Do you need to get out of the always dark and flashy casinos? Las Vegas offers wonderful outdoor activities, from excellent golf courses to balloon rides, horseback riding and hiking. Areas like Red Rock National Conservation Area and Grand Canyon National Park are not too far away to drive. Of course, if you don’t want to stray too far from the Strip, the casinos have outdoor shows like the volcano at the Mirage Casino, the fountains at the Bellagio, and the pirate battle at Treasure Island.

Jacuzzis

You’re on vacation, treat yourself! Head to the newly built Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa to unwind, it’s just 10 miles from the Strip. Try other spas like Artisan Hotel and Spa, The Westin Casuarina Hotel, Casino and Spa, JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort and Spa, and The Platinum Hotel and Spa to name a few. After all the shopping, shows, gambling, golf and roller coaster and amusement park fun; you will need some time to relax.
