Dog Training – Cool Tricks for Dogs

Well, who among us doesn’t love watching movies with well-trained dogs? Dogs like Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, Air Bud, and Pongo the Dalmatian? These dogs do cool dog tricks that go far beyond basic dog training. Is it really possible for the average Tina to learn beyond dog obedience training?

Good news! Even a rescue dog can surely learn these adorable and simple dog tricks. I’ll show you how to make your dog wave, play dead, dance, and crawl. Actually, these are easy tricks to teach dogs.

Before you begin teaching Tina to do tricks with dogs for entertainment purposes, it is essential that she master all the basic dog obedience commands. These include sit, lie, stay, heel (left and right), come, as well as a long sit, lie, or stay, and all commands are executed off-leash. The dog must also be able to handle distractions.

Let’s start by showing Tina how to “shake”, which is followed by a wave session below. If Tina likes to use her paws, say “Nice move” and reward her with affection when she places her paw in your hand. If Tina doesn’t like using her paws, help her. Put her paw in your hand and tell her to shake it. Repeat the exercise three to five times in a row to deepen and reinforce it, always with the same hand and the same leg.

Repeat this entire exercise session four to six times a day, but no more than five iterations at a time. This keeps Tina from getting bored.

Now that Tina has learned how to shake hands, ask her to sit down and get ready for your dog’s next cool trick: shaking hands. Then put her hand about an inch away from her. When he reaches for your hand, say “Good vibes.” Increase the distance a little more each time. If Tina gets frustrated, she goes back to the last time she waved and help her increase the distance.

Always play with your dog for a few minutes after each training session. Game times keep everything relaxed and fun. Binding time is also important.

Ready for more cool dog hacks? If you want Tina to learn to crawl and play dead, she starts by playing dead. Get Tina to bed. Turn it on its side yourself or use your favorite toy as an assistant. Tell her to “Stay dead.” Before long, you’ll only need the word “dead.”

To teach Tina to crawl, ask her to lie down and then tell her to stay for a minute. Next, she sit on the floor a couple of inches away. Keeping your hand just above the ground, motion for her to come. As she crawls, encourage her by calmly saying, “Crawl; that-a-girl, crawl!” Reward her with affection or use a favorite toy if she wants to.

Dancing is another popular trick to teach dogs. You want your Tina to learn to circle dance, but how? She forms an “O” with your hand. She moves your hand slowly in circles, while you move your body as needed, so that your dog follows your hand in a circular fashion. All the time you are saying, “Dance. Let’s dance.” (Or something similar). If Tina jumps at your hand, have her sit up, then place her on one heel and have her follow you with your hand still in the “O” position, with her arm moving slowly in circles. She will start to get the idea.

Next, you could teach Tina to dance standing on her hind legs. This is especially easy if your dog likes to jump or stand up to show affection. Just set it so she’s doing the move, then give her a name (eg “dance” or “groove”) and reward her for doing the move. “Good rhythm!”

As you can see, your dog can learn to do these easy canine tricks in a step-by-step process. Note, however, that Tina first needs a move, which is then associated with a word. Otherwise, you give a word command and the dog becomes confused, anxious and frustrated, wanting to please but not knowing how. However, it is easy for her to observe your hand. So she induces an action or rewards a behavior, then give that behavior a name. Before you know it, your dog will surprise your friends, appearing as a dog movie star with awesome cool dog tricks!
