Do girls dress up for dance classes when they are little?

When you hear the word dance, what does it make you think of? Maybe So You Think You Can Dance contestants? Or maybe little girls in their first dance class?

Well, I tend to think of the latter. Little girls are so cute, all dressed up and ready for dance class. In the city where we live there are several options of styles for young girls to take to where the dance class goes. There is the ever popular ballet, tap dance, and hip hop around here.

The first day I took my daughter to dance class, we were a little late. I didn’t even think that at her age she would have to be all dressed up in tutus, skirts, or tights. Man, was I ever wrong. We arrived and she was dressed in her cute shorts and t-shirt that she had been wearing all day. All the other girls looked like professional dancers! We are talking about 4 year olds here. I honestly didn’t think they would be so well dressed and oh so cute! All the girls wore a tutu or skirt over a leotard. They even had cute pink ballet flats.

I was so embarrassed for my little girl, and let’s be honest, I was embarrassed for being so out of place! We did? You know it. We went to our big store in town. We bought 2 different jerseys, one black and one light pink. We already had leggings, so we were good there. I thought tights would be pretty cheap, but I was wrong. They were quite expensive. Then we had to make some tutus and buy some skirts. In fact, it was a lot of fun making some tutus. It was almost Halloween time, and we made a black and orange tutu and put some spiders on it. When it came time for petticoats, I was amazed at how much they were in boutiques and online. I mean $ 60- $ 100. I set out on a mission to get the most affordable petticoats!

Dancewear doesn’t have to break the bank as I now understand. When searching online, do a Google search, for wholesale petticoats, cheap dancewear, cheap dancewear, etc. You should find a lot of excellent information and prices available. Dancing is a lot of fun for girls. In these tough economic times, it’s important to look around you and make sure you get a fantastic price on dance costumes.
