Body language and eye contact: how to detect attraction through the eyes

Human eyes are believed to hold the key to the heart and soul. The eyes almost always fail to lie. Eyes reveal what words fall short when sharing, so it’s important to make frequent eye contact to detect what someone is really feeling. Being able to know how to detect messages sent through our eyes will help us to “read the minds” of others and will surely go a long way to discover someone’s true feelings. Below are some examples of body language and eye contact and their meanings.

  • blinking too much. A complete sign of nervousness and anxiety. But hey, that doesn’t mean it’s a negative sign. When someone blinks a lot (unless they really have some sort of eye problem) it means they are self-conscious about your gaze and are trying to make up their minds on how to control it.
  • the sidelong glance. They are starting to examine you, contemplating whether or not you are worth talking to. This could be a pretty critical type of eye contact, but it can also mean being open (but not completely) to the possibility of connecting.
  • the prolonged look. This can be a sexually charged type of eye contact, especially when someone gives you this on a date. They are confident enough to let you know that they have their eyes on you and will deliberately show you that they are interested.
  • drooping eyes. The flirtatious look “Somewhat sleepy” eyes mean someone is overwhelmed by your presence, and their minds are racing a second to find a way to attract you. Be careful if this eye contact is also combined with a smile or subtle smile. Someone wants to get lucky with you tonight.
  • the shy look. This eye contact can be tricky and teasing, and sometimes you can’t tell if someone is interested in you or just shy. The shy look can mean a thousand things: they are looking for your acceptance, appreciation or they may be too shy to be around you since you have attracted them to a whole new level.
