Bite Me by Christopher Moore

How would you describe a Christopher Moore novel? Thriller/humor/fantasy? Science fiction/paranormal/satire? How about total fun?

Bite Me is the sequel to You Suck and the third in Moorse’s hilarious vampire series set in San Francisco. Before you cringe at the thought of another vampire story, this is nothing like the teen angst vampire series that are as thick as old motor oil on the charts. These are good.

Let’s go over some of the main characters, all in great shape after their adventures in You Suck. Abby Normal wants to own the dark (Allison Greene’s day slave name) leading the pack as she professes her love for Steve (Foo Dog), the wonderful brain. Chet The Hairless Cat is back and getting bigger, The Emperor is still overseeing his town while he lives on the streets, Jody and Tommy are still lovers but locked in copper. SF cops Cavuto and Rivera join the crowd again as everyone tries to fight off the latest vampire attack, this time three super vampires arriving on a mysterious yacht to help save The Count.

One of Moore’s strengths is his excellent dialogue, and this book is no different. Unique descriptions of Abby’s boots, Chet’s appetite, the loving habits of the Animals (creators of frozen turkey bowls and the Safeway’s night staff) and the always hard-to-understand conversations involving Abby and Goth Gary. Read it, you’ll know what I mean. No one writes funny, articulate dialogue like Christopher Moore. This is a great book, highly recommended.
