A List of Popular Police Shows on TV

Positions in the law enforcement field are some of the most highly publicized in the world. Almost everyone is fascinated with the way police officers catch criminals and the amount of thought and hard work that goes into their jobs. There are a multitude of television shows that feature police officers. These police shows range from complete and utter fiction to more real shows that involve real police officers instead of just actors. Often in these shows, officers will engage in foot races with their suspects involving the criminal suspects jumping over CT fences and CT fences to try and escape their pursuers, which in most cases results in get caught

The classic cop show that really got the ball rolling, so to speak, is Cops. Almost everyone in the country knows what Cops is and it has become a very successful and long running show. The show centers on a camera crew that follows police officers in their cars across the country and films them doing their job. Of course, the job involves a lot of different things and sometimes the police are called in to settle some sort of dispute, sometimes they have to stop people in their cars, and other times they have to arrest and break up fights. Some really funny things happen on the show, like an episode where a man made and smoked drugs at someone’s house and then decided to hide in the trunk of his car. The police spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to get it out of the trunk, and to everyone’s surprise, when they did, they charged him with drug-related offences.

Another popular show about the police falls under the comedy genre and is essentially a fictional, humorous take on the aforementioned cops. Reno 911 also has a camera crew that follows the police, this time only in the city of Reno. The characters on the show are all very funny, including Lt. Dangle, a department head who can’t control any of his employees. The officers on the show do ridiculous things and meet ridiculous people, like a man who plays Dungeons and Dragons in his backyard and continually attacks people, and then tries to justify it within the context of the game.

Finally, another hit police show of the current decade is called “CSI,” and it’s several seemingly endless spinoff shows of the same name but with a city attached to it. “CSI”, obviously to anyone who has ever seen it, is not fun, but it does take a look at the world of crime scene investigation and the use of forensic science to track down criminals. Although the show is of course not entirely accurate, there are some true things involved in that forensic evidence is often very important in solving crimes.

The world may never end its fascination with police work and watching television shows that sometimes accurately and sometimes inaccurately depict it.
